Day 6: Prom Dress

I had an idea for a different way to do the darts on the front of the dress over the weekend.

I decided to do a different kind of dart on my dress, I don’t know if it really counts as a dart but it serves the same purpose. I wanted something that would look a little prettier on the satin because the satin really shows all of the seams. I also decided to go back to my original idea of using a half circle skirt for the skirt part instead of a gathered skirt because I didn’t like the way that the gathered skirt fit on my mock-up.

Today I started to cut out the pieces for the top of the dress and sew them, though I think I’m going to do a zigzag over the edges because it is fraying a little bit.

Over the weekend I went and bought the needles that I needed for the satin and for the chiffon and also the thread and zipper.

Today was a bit of a slow day because my allergies were really bad but I tried my best. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to finish the top and maybe start the skirt.

I worked from 11 am-12 pm and from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm (2 hours) on Saturday and from 8 am-3 pm (7 hours) today.
